We are less than a month away from Winter Outing, which means one thing, it's basketball time! For those who don't know, Winter Outing weekend provides many fun activities for our Scholars. One of those being the very competitive inter-chapter basketball tournament, which takes place on Saturday at the University of Illinois Chicago Rec Center.

IU is without question a basketball school, and that is of no exception in our Scholarship House. Every year the IU chapter enters a men's team in the tournament, and the Scholars are hoping this could be the year that ends with a championship. In prior years, the team has had a reputation of being a one and done in the tournament. However, last year proved to be an exceptional recruiting class as freshmen standouts Eric Martin and Justuss Boice led the team to the semifinals. Unfortunately, the team lost a nail bitter to the Wisconsin chapter, who later went on to win the tournament. The team looks to build on their success this year, especially considering this will be the last time playing for several seniors including Jake Gawel and Carter Ester. Both gentlemen have been members of the team for four years and would like nothing more than to cap their senior year with a championship. One thing is for sure, the IU team per usual will be sporting some of the best uniforms you will see at the tournament. Rumor has it, this year they will be sporting Hickory-inspired jerseys from the movie Hoosiers to pay homage to their Indiana roots.
