Evans Scholars qualify for Little 500
Deemed the "World's Greatest College Weekend," the Little 500 is the largest collegiate bike race in the United States. Riders compete in teams of four individuals around a quarter-mile cinder track at the Bill Armstrong Stadium. The men's race consists of 200 laps, the equivalent of 50 miles.
Evans Scholars will be represented in the race, coming up on April 21, after qualifying on Saturday, March 24. Little 500 qualifications consists of four laps around the stadium. The 33 fastest teams are allowed to compete in the Little 500 race. The bike team is composed of sophomores Brendan Mullen, Ethan Aberg and Ethan Parsley, as well as a non-Evans Scholar, Andrew Andjelic. The team is coached by freshman Jonathan Westergaard. The boys finished in 26th place in the men's division with a time of 2.51033 minutes
We are so proud of their dedication, spending much time during their spring semester in training and preparation for the event. We wish them the best of luck come April 21! We were certainly be in the stands cheering them on.
